Police discover Ranveer Allahbadia’s Versova home locked after he fails to show up for the second time in the “India’s Got Latent” dispute.
Despite receiving a second summons in relation to the “insensitive and vulgar” jokes made during India’s Got Latent program recently, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia did not show up for his scheduled appearance before the Khar police in Bombay on Friday.
Allahbadia was scheduled to attend the Khar police station on Thursday, a police officer told The Indian Express. However, he failed to show up, despite his team’s assurance that he would visit the police station on Friday. But once more, he did not participate in the investigation.
After Allahbadia did not show up for the second time, a squad from the Khar police station was dispatched to his home in Versova. The Khar police team was also accompanied by a team from the Assam Police, which is also looking into a criminal charge against Allahbadia. But it was discovered that Allahbadia’s house was locked. The police have posted a notice outside his house requesting that he come in shortly.
According to a police officer, Allahbadia’s attorney was also unreachable.
Following the controversy surrounding the widely shared clip of India’s Got Latent show, separate formal complaints were filed by the Assam Police and then Maharashtra, India Cyber Police against Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, the show’s creator, Samay Raina, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, and others for allegedly producing pornographic material and posting it on YouTube.
The Khar police also opened an investigation following several allegations. The Khar police have so far called all five of the show’s judges, including Raina and Allahbadia. Chanchlani and Mukhija are among the more than a dozen people whose comments the police have recorded.
Nearly 59 people, including all of the judges, attendees, and others involved in the incidents when “foul language” was used, have also been summoned by the Maharashtra cyber police. Only Raghu Ram answered the summons on Thursday, and his response was noted.
Allahbadia posted a video on websites to express regret for his “insensitive joke.”
